Different styles of hearing instruments to suit your need, preference and hearing loss:

 

Behind-the-ear hearing aid with ear mould:

This type of hearing aid fits behind the ear and is connected to an ear mould that is custom made for comfort to fit in the ear. It is suitable for all types of hearing loss. Battery life for these instruments is long, they are easy to maintain and warranty periods are longer that certain other styles. You can choose from a variety of colours to match hair and skin colour. Behind the ear hearing aids are also compatible with accessory devices e.g. Bluetooth, phone, music, TV, etc.

 

Behind-the-ear hearing aid with thin tube (open fit):

These hearing aids fit behind the ear and are connected to a thin tube with a silicone dome at the tip that fits into the ear canal. It is suitable for hearing loss where the low frequency hearing is normal or still near normal and the middle to high frequency hearing has a mild to severe loss. They are very comfortable to wear, easy to maintain and warranty periods are long. Different colours are available to match hair and skin colour.   They are compatible with accessory devices e.g. Bluetooth, phone, music, TV etc.

 

Behind-the-ear hearing aid with receiver-in-the-canal (RIC):

RIC hearing aids fit behind the ear and are connected to a wire in thin tubing with the receiver located at the tip that fits into the ear canal with a silicone dome or custom made acrylic tip. They are suitable for most hearing losses from mild to severe. They are comfortable to wear, but maintenance needs a bit more attention and time. Moisture management and ear wax management are extremely important when wearing this style of hearing aid. Warranty periods are long. They are also available in different colours to match hair and skin colour. They are compatible with accessory devices e.g. Bluetooth, phone, music, TV etc.

 

In-the-ear hearing aid (ITE)

They are suitable for most hearing losses. Comfortable to wear as it is custom made to fit the ear canal. Need to maintain and clean regularly as the receiver unit fits into the ear canal. Different colours are available to match skin colour. Warranty period is shorter that the BTE units. They are compatible with accessory devices e.g. Bluetooth, phone, music, TV etc.

 

In-the canal hearing aid (ITC)

These are smaller and less noticeable that the ITE’s. Comfortable to wear as it is custom made to fit the ear canal. Need to maintain and clean regularly as the receiver unit fits into the ear canal. Different colours are available to match skin colour. Warranty period is shorter that the BTE units. They are compatible with accessory devices e.g. Bluetooth, phone, music, TV etc.

 

Completely-in-the-canal hearing aid (CIC)

These are the smallest style of hearing aids available as they fit completely into the ear canal. Comfortable to wear as it is custom made to fit the ear canal. Need to maintain and clean regularly as the receiver unit fits into the ear canal. Different colours are available to match skin colour. Warranty period is shorter that the BTE units. Shorter battery life due to the size of the hearing aid that can only use a small size 10 battery.   They are compatible with accessory devices e.g. Bluetooth, phone, music, TV etc.

 

Bone-anchored-hearing aid (BAHA)

These hearing aids are suitable for conductive hearing losses with chronic middle ear infections, outer ear infections and otosclerosis. This style of hearing aid is anchored to the bony area behind the ear via surgery and transmit the sound through the bone to the inner ear.
